CHANGE OF PLANS

The tide is rising. The sun is setting. Obama is giving a speech, because there's some change a coming. A brilliant mind told me that I could do one good drawing a week, instead of trying to cram in a drawing everyday. From one brilliant mind to another, I agreed.

I'll keep posting something everyday to keep you plebeians at bay. And I'll also try to do a better job drawing from now on like Rebecca Kimmel. I stumbled upon her work years back and instantly wished I could be as good as her.

Here are some of her traditional works. They are ridiculously good and inspiring. I can only dream of using line and form the way she does. And the shading is nothing but perfect. If it is possible to have an end goal for drawing, those drawings would be the epitome of it, at least for me.

Beacuase I haven't gone to sleep yet, that's how a day really ends. Anyway, the Master Hand.

Didn't turn out as good as I hoped. If you stand kind of far away from it then it starts to look realistic but not really. When I have some spare time I might still go back and keep improving the shading. I like the thumb for some reason. It wasn't looking quite right, but then I changed the angle of the thumbnail and it like instantly worked. The knuckles still need a little more definition, but they don't look half bad. The fingers are strange. I think if you look at them separately they look fine, but not all together. The pinky's like doing it's own thing, which I was totally oblivious to until now.  TOO LATE NOW.

Hands are really challenging. It's what I like about them. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION JESSIE. DIS ONE'S FOR YOU.

Fat Man

As we're going down hill, here is Fat Man.

I wish I could find the reference for this, but alas. His eyes really were cock eyed, but they're not parallel and that bugs me. the proportions are fine except for them eyes. Look forward to a more detailed drawing tomorrow.

Didn't post anything yesterday. My bad. Looks like we'll have to have a DOUBOLO HEADERO instead.

First up to bat is my (very late) Christmas present for my (aspiring) imagineer friend. He had a mohawk for a day. He claims he did it for 'the irony', but he also claims he's not a nurse shark. So, ya know.

This is still a WIP. He needs an ear and there's still muchos work to be done on his skin. I can't decide if the hair, glasses and face are all aligned correctly or not. I dunno. It doesn't look too bad? Oh, that grey spot where the ear is supposed to be is my scanner being dumb.

Up next is the first drawing I did for this blog, so here is where it starts to go down in flames.

Yup, try not to look at it directly. Doctors say it's not good for your eyes. As you can see, contour lines are used extensively. The mouth gave me the most trouble. That, and the nose didn't quite turn out the way it was supposed to. The eyes looked much worse while I was drawing, but they look suitable now. I liked the way the hair turned out, and the proportion is much better. 

Please pardon my crappy scanning skills. I'm messing around with the settings still, so if things looked washed out then that's probably why.

NUMBER ONE

Welp, here we are. Take a look around, stay if you'd like. I will be posting crap here everyday. My made up rule is that I'm going to be drawing something everyday and put it up here. That is subject to change though, namely because I'm lazy.

My first few pictures will be things I've already drawn, just to get things rolling.

Drawed this one a while ago. I'm almost convinced it's a fluke. This was my first time using charcoal pencils. It also looks worse every time I look at it. So many flaws! The thing is, this is probably my best drawing, so expect things to go downhill pretty fast.

I'd like to work on proportion and structure rather than detail, because that's what is wrong with this drawing. The eyes look great and the nose and mouth don't look too bad. But compared to the reference photo it only has a vague resemblance. Much of that has to do with proportion and crap like that.

So here's to starting a stupid blog for no reason at all! Have fun looking at my crappy drawings. I know I does!
